The Town of Glenville has been awarded $30,000 by the NYS Regional Economic Development Council to complete an engineering report to evaluate the possibility of constructing a wastewater collection system for the developed and un-sewered areas of the Town. This will allow the Town to complete its longtime goal of examining the extension of the sewer system up Route 50, just North of Price Chopper in the Town Center, to Saratoga County line.
“This is an important step forward and will help us start a project that has been at the top of the Town’s strategic plan for a long time. The proposed sewer extension up the northern corridor of Route 50 will help the town foster economic development while enhancing services to the existing residents in the neighborhoods on that road,” said Supervisor Chris Koetzle.
“The extension of a vital service such as municipal sewer along our most heavily traveled corridor will be instrumental in achieving our plans for continuation of orderly and planned growth in Glenville. The funding of this study will provide the catalyst for this extension to occur,” stated Councilman Jim Martin, the town’s economic development liaison.
“The Town is very pleased to see that our CFA grant application to fund a sewer extension engineering study for the Route 50 corridor was selected for funding,” said Glenville Director of Planning Kevin Corcoran. “There is a general understanding that the heavily developed Route 50 corridor from the Glenville Town Center to our northern border is the most logical location to expand sewer service. Scores of business owners and thousands of residents would benefit from sewer service along the Route 50 corridor, as would our neighbor to the north, the Town of Ballston. The engineering study will help us nail down exactly where sewer service delivery should occur, and at what cost,” said Corcoran.
